The Cow Close Farm Project begins…
In April 2023 Cow Close Farm became part of Wild & Other.
From day one the farm was already a beautiful and inspiring place to be. This was partly down to the care, and attention of the former owners, Allan and Barbara Campbell.
Through the purchase process we became friends. As we shared our hopes for the farm Allan and Barbara were encouraged to hear that our intention was to build upon their legacy and continue to nurture and protect a special space for wildlife.
Back in October 2022 our first visit to Cow Close Farm was memorable. I was giving my colleague Steve a video-tour of the land whilst attempting to stay calm as a herd of about 30 young cows became increasingly excited and boisterous! How thrilling that my wife, two young children and I had chosen to visit THEIR field!
I’m told the resulting video call did lead Steve to wonder if he was going to witness a very tragic ‘Mufasa-from-the-Lion-King’ scene, albeit with the beautiful backdrop of the North-East Derbyshire countryside! Nonetheless, disaster was averted, and Cow Close Farm became part of our lives over the following months.
Now, just over a year from that intense bovine encounter, we look back on a busy period. We have renovated the two holiday cottages on site. The farmhouse, our third and final venue, will be completed over the coming months.

Our vision is that Cow Close Farm becomes even more the haven for wildlife and nature it already was, as well as being a peaceful and rejuvenating place for friendly humans to come and stay, and visit, and be.
We’d love you to be part of this new adventure.
